REGARDING SPACEFINDER

Hello Friend,

We hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy during these previously unimaginable times. 

We are writing with news about our SpaceFinder service. After months of deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to end support for all SpaceFinder websites. In an increasingly competitive technology marketplace, SpaceFinder has been operating at a disadvantage as we have focused our resources on enhancing Fractured Atlas’s vital and growing Fiscal Sponsorship service.

Practically, while all SpaceFinder sites will still exist for the foreseeable/immediate future, effective May 1st, 2020 we are no longer providing customer service support, developing new SpaceFinder sites, or making technical upgrades. 

We understand that SpaceFinder has served an important role in your creative work or business. This isn’t the outcome we hoped for when we first set out to make space more accessible for artists. However, we believe that this decision will allow us to continue serving the creative community through our more sustainable services. Below are some FAQs that can provide you with additional information.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What happens to the venue data currently in SpaceFinder? 

SpaceFinder sites will still exist for the foreseeable future, so venue information will still be available to find and use.  For your convenience though, we would recommend that you save any important information you might need for your work.

I have a venue/several venues listed on SpaceFinder, how will artists in my community find them?

For now, artists will still be able to use SpaceFinder as before. We encourage you to proactively take steps to ensure that SpaceFinder is not the only marketing resource that you’re using to reach artists in your community.

These steps could include looking to boost your website’s SEO or partnering with your local or regional arts council to make sure that your venue has appropriate visibility among the artists that you serve. You could also use this opportunity to engage with previous customers and encourage them to contact you directly.

Who should I reach out to if I have a SpaceFinder-related question? What does it mean to not offer customer service support?

Regional local partners will be the best resource for questions. If there is a local partner on your region’s SpaceFinder site, they will be listed at the bottom of the page. They would also be the best resource to help you find an alternate way to list or find venues.

When will SpaceFinder be shut down?

Despite the ending of direct support to all SpaceFinder instances in May 2020, we will be keeping the sites live and running as long as possible. If there should be any significant or widely impacting technical breakdown at any point after that time we will have to take the product offline.
