Seasons greetings! Fractured Atlas will be closed from December 20th, 2025 until January 4th, 2026 to build in time for our staff to to rest, recharge, and reset. Whether you're spending time with family, fundraising, or other fun, the end of the year can get busy. We created this helpful guide to make at least one part of your life (the fiscal sponsorship part) as easy, breezy, beautiful as can be. Let's dive in!

For the past two years, Fractured Atlas has closed its virtual offices between December and January. We started with one week, closed for two the following year, and will continue with a two-week closure this year.
Naturally, all staff reviews, manual processes, and customer support via emails or phones are paused whenever Fractured Atlas is closed. Some services, like donation processing by check or credit card, don't pause. If we work together to plan ahead, you may not even notice we're gone : )
We're asking members to submit requests, reviews, or edits for the services listed below by Monday, December 15th at 9am ET to ensure our team has time to review them before services are paused beginning at the end of the work day on Friday, December 19th, 2 pm ET. All services will reopen the week of January 5th.

Grant-related questions
I have a grant application coming up. Do I need to do anything different? 🪄
Just get it in by the deadline! Submitting any grant application documents by Monday, December 15th at 9am ET is the best way to guarantee review before Winter Break. Applications with a due date during the Winter Break or the week of December 15th may incur the rush grant fee. If your grant is due after January 5th, we will review it after the Winter Break and the rush fee may be assessed at the discretion of Fractured Atlas staff. Please note that rush reviews are dependent upon volume, and can never be guaranteed. You will only be charged if we are able to fulfill the review within the rush timeline!
Help! I need a last minute grant application reviewed very quickly 🥵
We will unfortunately not be able to accommodate any expedited one-business day grant reviews between December 15th and January 9th.
Fund-release-related questions
I have a fund release request coming up. Do I need to do anything different? 💸
Just get it in by the deadline! Request fund releases of all amounts by Monday, December 15th at 9am ET, and be sure to attach appropriate documentation for requests of $5000 or more, or your first request of $3500 or more. Please keep in mind that if your project needs to receive funds in the calendar year 2025 (for tax or payment purposes), your fund release request must be submitted by the 12/15 deadline AND approved before our closure. If we do not have appropriate documentation or we have unanswered questions by the start of our closure, the request will not be approved and the funds will not be released to your project until calendar year 2026.
Visa-related questions
I have a visa letter request coming up. Do I need to do anything different? 📝
Just get it in by the deadline! Submit your request for a peer advisory letter by Monday, December 15th at 9am ET, and be sure to include all signed required support documentation. If we do not have appropriate support documentation or we have unanswered questions by the start of our closure, the letter will not be issued until we reopen in 2026, since all requests for peer letters of consultation are reviewed and completed within five business days of receipt of all necessary application materials, unless rush service is requested.
1099-Misc.-related questions
I need to update the legal entity associated with my fiscal sponsorship for the 2025 tax year. Do I need to do anything different? 🪧
Just get it in by the deadline! If you need to update the legal entity associated with your fiscal sponsorship before our winter closure, please contact support@fracturedatlas.org by Monday, December 8th at 9am ET so that a staff member may initiate the Assignment and Assumption process before we close.
Donation-related questions
Will my end-of-year fundraising be affected by this closure? How will I receive donations? 🙊
All is well. Donations by check and credit card are processed even when we are closed. This means your end-of-year fundraising will continue running smoothly, even if donations arrive late into the night, on weekends, or during holidays.
For credit card donations: Be sure to direct donors to your project’s specific fundraising page.
For individual check donations: Individual checks should be reported before sending them to Fractured Atlas’s PO Box — this helps prevent delays!
For Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) checks: These do not need to be reported and can be sent directly to Fractured Atlas’s PO Box for processing.
If your donors would like to make an ACH or Stock donation, please see the information below.
I'm launching an exciting, winter crowdfunding campaign. Do I need to do anything different? 🚀
Just get it in by the deadline! Submit crowdfunding campaigns for review and approval by Monday, December 15th at 9am ET. You’re welcome to launch campaigns during our Winter Break, but a member of our staff will need to review and approve them before you can do so. Please submit your campaign for approval by the 15th, so we have time to review, request edits, and approve your campaign before we close.
My donor needs a copy of Fractured Atlas’s Major Gift Letter for their end of year donation 💌
Here's the Major Gift Letter. Congrats on some successful fundraising, friend!
I need Fractured Atlas’s mailing address for checks for an end of year donation 📍
All the information you need on mailing a check can be found here.
I need to send my donor a donation receipt before the end of the calendar year 🧾
All the information you need on donor tax receipts can be found here.
One of my supporters would like to make an ACH or Stock donation this winter. What do I do? 🤯
Great question. Unlike credit card and check donations, ACH and stock donations are processed manually and require the work and coordination of multiple staff members across different departments. These contributions typically take several days to two weeks to complete. Please plan accordingly, and encourage your supporters to make these kinds of contributions by Monday, December 15th.
If you or your donor require Fractured Atlas’s ACH or Brokerage information to initiate a donation before the Winter Break, please email support@fracturedatlas.org by Monday, December 15th. If you're reading this during the Winter Break (any time between December 20st and January 4th), please have your donor complete this form. Once the form is submitted, your donor will be emailed our ACH or Brokerage Information to initiate the donation.
We ask that donors initiate their donation to Fractured Atlas no later than December 25th, in order to ensure it will be received in the year 2025 and subsequently processed for the year 2025. Donors will receive tax receipts based on the date the donation is received, however the donation itself may not be processed until after our return from break.
Response timeline-related questions
When will I hear back about my inquiry submitted during Winter Break? 🎧
Fractured Atlas will resume operations the week of January 5th. We'll be responding to all inquiries in the order they were received, so please allow our team time to work through the backlog systematically.
We appreciate your patience - follow-up emails and calls can actually slow down our response time as they pull staff away from processing pending requests. Rest assured, we haven't forgotten about you and will reach out as soon as we get to your inquiry. We thank you in advance for helping make our winter break a success by utilizing resources like this hub and the knowledge base (which has helpful information for current projects, prospective projects, donors, and visa customers) and its chatbot.
💐 Contact Before Winter BreakAs always, you can email us or book a phone call if you have questions about our Winter Break and how to prepare for it.
On principle, Fractured Atlas employees aren't on call when Fractured Atlas is closed. Every person (on our staff, and around the globe) deserves time to rest, play, eat good food, and spend time with loved ones. That said, we are committed to serving our members and make an effort to go the extra mile wherever we can. If Winter Break has already begun and you believe you have a true emergency that only we can solve, please click here.

While Fractured Atlas will be back to work the week of January 5th, we’ll be playing catch up and responding to all inquiries in the order in which we received them. So, we ask that you give our staff time and grace to follow up on all inquiries that came in during Winter Break in the order in which they were received. Follow up emails and calls, while understandable, negatively impact our team’s capacity to catch up so please sit tight until we reach out—we haven’t forgotten you 💯
With that, we send you and your creative practice the heartiest virtual affirmation we can muster in this moment: your work is vital. We believe in you, and thank you for all you do to make this ecosystem the vibrant, inclusive place it is. Every artist is welcome here.
With gratitude,
the Fractured Atlas team
